The best trading app in the UAE for charts? Sarwa, baraka, Sahm, Wio and eToro, and what gold and forex traders are missing

In the UAE, "xauusd" draws about 30 times the search interest of "eurusd". Our Google Trends data for the 12 months to October 2026 also puts the UAE first in the world for "gold trading" search intensity. When people in this country look up a market, gold comes first.
Now open the most popular local investing apps and look for a gold chart you could plan a trade on. In most of them you will not find one. One Sarwa user, reviewing the app on the UAE App Store, described what happened when they did try to watch a price: "The chart freezes, the bid/ask spread is static."
The UAE's home-grown apps are good at what they were built for, and most were built for buying shares. The gold and forex trader is often using the wrong tool and wondering why it feels wrong.
Quick answer: Sarwa, baraka, Sahm and Wio Invest are share and fund investing apps. Their charts are basic or not mentioned at all, and none of them offers leveraged gold or forex trading. eToro is the one app in this list whose UAE permission (from the FSRA in ADGM) covers derivatives, which is the category gold and currency CFDs fall into, and its charts are TradingView-based. If you trade XAU/USD or currency pairs, a broker platform plus a planning tool fits the job better than an investing app. Systemly adds the plan: the trade drawn on a live chart, sized for your account, in Dubai time.
Systemly publishes this comparison. We have tried to be fair, and every competitor fact below is sourced and dated 13 October 2026. Systemly is not a broker and is not licensed in the UAE, and nothing here is a suggestion to sign up with any firm named.
Two different things called "gold trading"
Before comparing apps, separate two activities that share a name.
The first is buying gold you can own. The UAE is the world's second-largest gold trade hub, with more than USD 129 billion of gold trade in 2023, according to DMCC. The Deira Gold Souk has more than 500 retailers. Several apps now let you buy physical gold, and baraka offers delivery.
The second is trading XAU/USD, the price of an ounce of gold in dollars, usually through a leveraged CFD at a broker. Our guide to how to trade gold (XAU/USD) covers the basics. You never own metal. You profit or lose on the move, and a stop that is badly placed can cost far more than the jewellery shop's mark-up ever would.
The common mistake is to treat these as the same. The consequence is a new trader who finds either no chart at all (because the app sells shares) or a leveraged product they did not realise they were using. Think of it like the difference between buying a car and betting on a car race. Only one leaves you with something in the garage. This article is about the second activity.
The five apps, one at a time
Sarwa
Sarwa is an Abu Dhabi investing app whose Sarwa Invest and Sarwa Trade services are regulated by the FSRA in the ADGM (Category 3C, per Sarwa's own page; one round-up lists the DFSA instead, so the sources conflict). It offers self-directed trading in US stocks and ETFs, plus managed portfolios. It offers no CFDs and no leverage, according to Sarwa's help centre.
Pricing is $1 per trade or 0.25% of the order, and Sarwa Invest costs $7 a month or 0.4% to 0.85% a year, according to Investing in the Web.
Its UAE App Store listing rates it 4.6 from 2,600 ratings. The description does not mention charts or indicators. The review quoted above (20 June 2025) adds that "the prices will just stop updating."
Best for: long-term investing in US shares and ETFs, and Sharia-compliant portfolios.
baraka
baraka is a Dubai investing app run by baraka Financial Limited in the DIFC, regulated by the DFSA, which approved its Islamic Window in July 2026. It offers US stocks, ETFs and options; DFM and ADX shares from September 2026; and gold and silver with physical delivery. About 58% of funded customers use its Shariah screener, and over 70% of its investors are under 35, according to Liquidity Finder.
The UAE App Store listing lists "Advanced Charts", described as candlestick charts, and offers "baraka AI" for exploring stocks. It gives no indicator or TradingView detail. Premium costs AED 37.99 a month or AED 369.99 a year; Premium Plus costs AED 79.99 a month or AED 799.99 a year. The app scores 4.4 from 1,400 ratings. One review (14 February 2025) says "the app itself is full of bugs, making even the simplest tasks difficult".
A quick sum for anyone weighing the subscription: twelve months of Premium at AED 37.99 is AED 455.88, so the yearly plan saves AED 85.89, about 19%. Premium Plus monthly for a year is AED 959.88, so the yearly plan saves AED 159.89, about 17%.
Best for: young UAE investors who want US and local shares, Shariah screening and physical gold in one app.
Sahm
Sahm Financial Limited is regulated by the DFSA (reference F012218) and holds DIFC licence CL10742, according to Khaleej Times (29 September 2026). It gives UAE users access to Saudi and US equities, with "technical-analysis tools", real-time data, advanced orders and "AI-powered market insights". The article does not say which charting engine it uses or how many indicators it has, and it gives no prices. Sahm has over 1 million users in Saudi Arabia, according to IBS Intelligence.
Best for: UAE residents who want Saudi shares alongside US shares.
Wio Invest
Wio Invest is part of Wio Bank and lets users trade US and UAE stocks, virtual assets and index funds. It passed $1 billion in assets under administration and $4 billion in order volume year to date by July 2025, according to Gulf News. The article does not mention charts or gold.
Best for: Wio Bank customers who want investing inside their banking app.
eToro
eToro (ME) Limited received a Financial Services Permission from the FSRA in the ADGM on 27 November 2023, "to operate as a broker for securities, derivatives, and cryptoassets in the United Arab Emirates", according to eToro. It is the only app in this list whose permission we found covering derivatives, the category that includes gold and currency CFDs. Check in the app which products its UAE entity offers you.
Its charts come from a 2023 partnership with TradingView ("100+ indicators", "50+ drawing tools"), although a 2026 review on a commercial site calls them "basic", so the sources conflict. In July 2026 eToro launched an AI agent called Tori, with insights and market signals via WhatsApp and Apple Watch. We could not confirm whether Tori is available in the UAE.
Best for: UAE traders who want shares, copy trading and derivatives under one regulated permission.
The five apps side by side
- UAE regulator: Sarwa: FSRA (ADGM); baraka: DFSA (DIFC); Sahm: DFSA (DIFC); Wio Invest: Via Wio Bank (not detailed in sources); eToro: FSRA (ADGM); Systemly: Not licensed; educational tool
- What you can do: Sarwa: US stocks and ETFs; portfolios; baraka: US and UAE shares, options, physical gold and silver; Sahm: Saudi and US shares; Wio Invest: US and UAE stocks, virtual assets, index funds; eToro: Securities, derivatives and crypto (per its FSRA permission); Systemly: Plan forex and gold trades; no money held
- Leveraged gold (XAU/USD): Sarwa: No; baraka: No (physical gold only); Sahm: Not stated; Wio Invest: Not stated; eToro: Permission covers derivatives; check the product list; Systemly: Plans it; you trade elsewhere
- Charts: Sarwa: Not described in app listing; baraka: Candlestick "Advanced Charts"; Sahm: "Technical-analysis tools" (detail unstated); Wio Invest: Not mentioned; eToro: TradingView-based (2023); Systemly: Live chart with the trade drawn on it
- AI: Sarwa: None found; baraka: baraka AI (stocks); Sahm: "AI-powered market insights"; Wio Invest: None found; eToro: Tori (UAE availability unverified); Systemly: AI plan checked by fixed rules
- Position size for a CFD: Sarwa: Not applicable; baraka: Not applicable; Sahm: Not applicable; Wio Invest: Not applicable; eToro: No; Systemly: Yes
- App rating (UAE store): Sarwa: 4.6 (2.6K); baraka: 4.4 (1.4K); Sahm: Not checked; Wio Invest: Not checked; eToro: Not checked; Systemly: Not rated here
Systemly wins none of the "what you can do" rows, because it holds no money and buys nothing. It only does the planning row, which the investing apps were never designed to do.
Your day in Dubai time
Dubai never changes its clocks, but the UK and US do, on different dates, so the forex day keeps moving around the Dubai office day. The times below use the BabyPips session convention.
- Forex week opens (Dubai): Until 24 October: About 01:00 Monday; 25 to 31 October 2026: About 01:00 Monday; From 1 November 2026: About 02:00 Monday
- London session (Dubai): Until 24 October: 11:00 to 20:00; 25 to 31 October 2026: 12:00 to 21:00; From 1 November 2026: 12:00 to 21:00
- London and New York overlap (Dubai): Until 24 October: 16:00 to 20:00; 25 to 31 October 2026: 16:00 to 21:00; From 1 November 2026: 17:00 to 21:00
- US jobs and inflation data (Dubai): Until 24 October: 16:30; 25 to 31 October 2026: 16:30; From 1 November 2026: 17:30
- Fed decision (Dubai): Until 24 October: 22:00; 25 to 31 October 2026: 22:00 (Wednesday 28 October); From 1 November 2026: 23:00
- Forex week closes (Dubai): Until 24 October: About 01:00 Saturday; 25 to 31 October 2026: About 01:00 Saturday; From 1 November 2026: About 02:00 Saturday
UAE federal government hours run 07:30 to 15:30 Monday to Thursday and to 12:00 on Friday, according to Khaleej Times. So the busiest window of the trading day starts after the government working day ends. That suits people who trade after work, and it may be why "new york session forex time in dubai" shows up in our search data.
The first jobs report after the US clock change lands on Friday 6 November 2026 at 17:30 Dubai, an hour later than Dubai traders are used to.
Systemly shows sessions in your own time zone, with London and New York following their own daylight saving, so a trader in Dubai sees them in the right place all year without changing a setting. If a major release for either currency lands inside a trade's life, the plan carries a news warning. Our guide to TradingView time zone and session settings for UK and Dubai covers the same problem from the charting side.
A worked example in dirhams
Say a Dubai trader holds AED 5,000 at a broker and plans to buy gold with a stop $5 below the entry. The dirham is pegged at $1 = AED 3.6725, according to Wikipedia's summary of the peg.
- The account in dollars is AED 5,000 ÷ 3.6725 = about $1,361.47.
- One per cent risk is about $13.61.
- Assume one standard lot of gold is 100 ounces, which is common but not universal (check your broker's contract), so a $5 move on 1.00 lot is $500.
- The size that fits is $13.61 ÷ $500 = 0.027 lots, which rounds down to 0.02 (a forex lot size calculator does the same sum).
- The real risk at the stop is 0.02 × $500 = $10, which is about AED 36.73, or 0.73% of the account.
None of the investing apps above will do this sum for you. Sarwa, baraka, Sahm and Wio do not offer leveraged gold, and we found no position sizing for your balance in eToro's materials. Systemly prints the lot size on the plan and shows one money figure with trading cost included at the stop. You can also test any size with the free Risk Doctor check.
If you fill the chart gap with a dedicated app, our ranking of the best charting apps for gold traders in the UAE sets out the options. If you pay for TradingView, remember the VAT. TradingView has collected UAE VAT at 5% since 14 March 2023. Essential billed annually is $155.40 according to TradingView's pricing page, which is about AED 570.71 at the peg. With VAT it is $155.40 × 1.05 = $163.17, about AED 599.24. The VAT date comes from TradingView's tax help page, and the sums are our own arithmetic.
Regulators: who checks what
Three regulators matter for UAE retail trading.
- The DFSA covers firms in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
- The FSRA covers firms in Abu Dhabi Global Market.
- The Capital Market Authority (CMA) covers the mainland. It was the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) until 1 January 2026, according to Regulation Tomorrow.
People search for a "uae government approved trading app". We know of no single government list; check the firm on the register of the regulator that licenses it. Leverage rules depend on the regulator: DFSA-licensed firms apply caps of 30:1 on major pairs and 20:1 on gold, according to Pepperstone's DIFC page, and we found no published retail cap for CMA mainland licensees.
A note on halal questions
"Is forex trading halal" is a frequent search in both the UK and the UAE. Systemly cannot give a religious ruling, and scholars differ. AAOIFI's Shari'ah Standard on trading in currencies permits currency exchange under conditions, including possession before parting and no deferment. Islamweb holds that leveraged online forex margin trading is impermissible, citing leverage as a loan that benefits the broker. Some brokers offer swap-free accounts, which remove overnight interest but often charge an administration fee instead. If this matters to you, take advice from a scholar you trust.
Where the UAE investing apps are the better choice
If your goal is to build wealth over years in shares, funds or physical gold, Sarwa, baraka, Sahm and Wio are the right kind of tool, and Systemly is not. They hold your money under a UAE regulator, they buy real assets, and they do not tempt you into leverage. baraka's physical gold with delivery is closer to the Gold Souk than to a CFD, and it carries no leverage. eToro is the closer fit if you want shares, copy trading and derivatives under one FSRA permission, though you should check which products its UAE entity offers you.
Where Systemly is the better choice
Systemly is the better choice when you already trade XAU/USD or currency pairs at a broker and want the plan worked out before you act: where to wait, where to get in, where the idea is wrong, what to do at each target, what it costs in money, and when there is no trade at all. Systemly (systemly.ai) is a UK-built forex and gold trade-planning app that turns live price data into a complete trade plan, with entry, stop, targets, position size and plain-English reasoning, and teaches the terms in a built-in academy of 32 courses. It covers gold and the major forex pairs on its free plan, where you can also practise a plan as a paper trade on real prices, with spreads and costs, at a balance you set. It follows every plan after it is sent, logging losses like any other result.
For more on gold specifically, see our XAU/USD signals and analysis guide and the companion piece on UK broker app charts.
How we compared
We read each app's UAE App Store listing or a recent news report on 13 October 2026, along with eToro's ADGM press release and regulatory sources for the UAE. We did not open accounts or test execution. Where sources conflict (Sarwa's regulator, eToro's chart depth) we say so. Dubai session times are calculated from the BabyPips session convention and the UK, US and UAE clock rules. Prices and features change, so check each app before you rely on any figure.
FAQ
What is the best trading app in the UAE for gold?
It depends on which gold you mean. For owning physical gold, baraka offers gold and silver with delivery under a DFSA licence. For trading the XAU/USD price with leverage, eToro is the only app in this comparison whose UAE permission (from the FSRA) covers derivatives such as CFDs, so check its product list in the app. Systemly does not hold money; it plans XAU/USD trades you place elsewhere.
Do Sarwa and baraka have good charts?
Not for trading. Sarwa's UAE App Store description does not mention charts or indicators, and one 2025 reviewer said "The chart freezes". baraka lists candlestick "Advanced Charts" without indicator detail. Both are built for investing in shares and funds, where detailed intraday charts matter less.
What time does the forex market open in the UAE?
On the common convention of 17:00 New York on Sunday, the forex week opens at about 01:00 Monday Dubai time until 31 October 2026 and about 02:00 Monday from 1 November, when the US changes its clocks. Some brokers open earlier, so check yours. Dubai does not change its clocks.
What time is the New York session in Dubai?
On the BabyPips convention, New York runs 16:00 to 01:00 Dubai time until 31 October 2026 and 17:00 to 02:00 from 1 November. The London and New York overlap, the busiest part of the day, is 16:00 to 20:00 Dubai now and 17:00 to 21:00 in winter.
Is there a UAE government approved trading app?
We know of no single government list. Find out which regulator licenses the firm (the DFSA in the DIFC, the FSRA in ADGM or the CMA, formerly the SCA, on the mainland) and check the firm on that regulator's register. Systemly is not licensed in the UAE and is an educational and trade-planning tool, not a broker.

Trading forex and CFDs carries a high risk of losing money, and most retail accounts do. Systemly is an educational and trade-planning tool. It does not provide financial advice or personal recommendations, and it is not authorised by the FCA or licensed in the UAE to do so. Past outcomes do not predict future results.
