Is TradingView worth it in 2026? What each plan really costs in the UK and UAE

Early this year a beginner on Reddit's r/Trading asked a simple question about TradingView: do people "really pay over £200" for the Plus plan? The replies split. One trader wrote, "You don't need tradingview plus. I use free and have access to everything I need for trading." Another said they "paid for 2-3 months to access all the backtesting data I needed."

The real number is higher than £200. Plus billed annually now costs $359.40 before tax. Add UK VAT at 20% and it is $431.28, about £322 at an assumed $1.34 to the pound. In Dubai, with 5% VAT, it is $377.37, about AED 1,386 at the official peg of AED 3.6725 to the dollar.

Quick answer: TradingView is worth paying for if you use it most days and hit a specific limit of the free plan, such as two indicators per chart, three price alerts or one saved layout. For most UK and UAE forex and gold traders, Essential or Plus billed annually is enough; Premium and Ultimate suit people who need second or tick data, footprint charts or exchange data for professional use. Plus and Premium rose by roughly 17% to 20% in 2026 (sources disagree on the dates), and VAT is added on top (20% UK, 5% UAE). If what you are actually missing is a plan for the trade rather than more chart, a free trade-planning tool may do more for you than an upgrade.

Systemly publishes this comparison. We have tried to be fair, and every competitor fact below is sourced and dated 13 October 2026.

What TradingView costs in October 2026

TradingView is a charting and social platform with a free Basic plan and four paid tiers. Its pricing page shows the annual-billing rates. The monthly-billing rates are confirmed by three independent sites and match the savings TradingView itself shows.

  • Basic: Monthly billing: $0; Annual billing, per month: $0; Annual total: $0; Saving on annual: n/a
  • Essential: Monthly billing: $14.95; Annual billing, per month: $12.95; Annual total: $155.40; Saving on annual: $24
  • Plus: Monthly billing: $34.95; Annual billing, per month: $29.95; Annual total: $359.40; Saving on annual: $60
  • Premium: Monthly billing: $69.95; Annual billing, per month: $59.95; Annual total: $719.40; Saving on annual: $120
  • Ultimate: Monthly billing: $239.95; Annual billing, per month: $199.95; Annual total: $2,399.40; Saving on annual: $480

Check the saving on Plus: $34.95 × 12 = $419.40 a year on monthly billing, against $359.40 on annual. The difference is $60, which matches TradingView's own figure. The same sum gives $24 for Essential ($179.40 − $155.40), $120 for Premium ($839.40 − $719.40) and $480 for Ultimate ($2,879.40 − $2,399.40).

There is also an Enterprise tier on a contact-sales basis. TradingView's terms add that "Rates offered in mobile stores and on the web-based platform might differ", so an in-app price can be different from the website.

How much did TradingView prices go up?

The dates are disputed, so here is what the sources agree on and where they differ.

  • Japanese broker-review site FXNav reports a rise for new customers on 8 May 2025, an email in March 2026 announcing another, and higher renewal prices for existing customers from 11 May 2026.
  • ChartingLens, a competitor's blog, dates the 2026 increase to 10 April and puts it at "roughly 17 to 20 percent".
  • TradingView's own announcement was not found.

The arithmetic supports the 17% to 20% range. Before the rise, Plus cost $29.95 monthly or $24.95 a month billed annually. Now it is $34.95 and $29.95.

  • Annual: ($29.95 − $24.95) ÷ $24.95 = $5.00 ÷ $24.95 = 20.0%.
  • Monthly: ($34.95 − $29.95) ÷ $29.95 = $5.00 ÷ $29.95 = 16.7%.

Premium moved by the same proportions, from $49.95 to $59.95 annual (20.0%) and $59.95 to $69.95 monthly (16.7%).

Not every customer was pleased. A Trustpilot reviewer wrote in May 2026 that "now they're forcing users to upgrade to the highest-tier plan just to keep features that were already included." An App Store UK reviewer wrote, "Features that were once free have now been locked behind paywalls."

The VAT nobody puts in the headline price

TradingView shows prices in dollars. Its tax help page lists the United Kingdom (VAT collected since 24 May 2023) and the United Arab Emirates (VAT since 14 March 2023). Tax is worked out from your billing country or postcode, and the page says, "We have no manual facility to exclude or adjust the tax rates". The UK standard VAT rate is 20%, and the UAE rate is 5%.

Whether UK or UAE users are ever billed in pounds or dirhams could not be confirmed. CMC Markets quotes the same numbers with a £ sign as "approximate UK pricing". The conversions below therefore use stated assumptions: $1.34 to the pound for illustration, and the dirham's official peg of AED 3.6725 to the US dollar, in place since November 1997. Your card issuer will convert at its own rate.

UK, with 20% VAT

  • Essential: Monthly with VAT: $17.94; Annual with VAT: $186.48; Annual in pounds (at an assumed $1.34): about £139
  • Plus: Monthly with VAT: $41.94; Annual with VAT: $431.28; Annual in pounds (at an assumed $1.34): about £322
  • Premium: Monthly with VAT: $83.94; Annual with VAT: $863.28; Annual in pounds (at an assumed $1.34): about £644
  • Ultimate: Monthly with VAT: $287.94; Annual with VAT: $2,879.28; Annual in pounds (at an assumed $1.34): about £2,149

Worked line for Essential annual: $155.40 × 1.20 = $186.48. Divide by 1.34 and you get £139.16. That is $15.54 a month, the same as $12.95 × 1.20.

UAE, with 5% VAT

  • Essential: Monthly with VAT: $15.70; Annual with VAT: $163.17; Annual in dirhams (at the 3.6725 peg): AED 599.24
  • Plus: Monthly with VAT: $36.70; Annual with VAT: $377.37; Annual in dirhams (at the 3.6725 peg): AED 1,385.89
  • Premium: Monthly with VAT: $73.45; Annual with VAT: $755.37; Annual in dirhams (at the 3.6725 peg): AED 2,774.10
  • Ultimate: Monthly with VAT: $251.95; Annual with VAT: $2,519.37; Annual in dirhams (at the 3.6725 peg): AED 9,252.39

Worked line for Premium annual: $719.40 × 1.05 = $755.37. Multiply by 3.6725 and you get AED 2,774.10. Monthly figures are rounded to the cent ($14.95 × 1.05 = $15.6975, shown as $15.70).

The VAT gap between the two countries is large. On Plus annual, a UK subscriber pays $71.88 in VAT ($359.40 × 0.20) and a UAE subscriber pays $17.97 ($359.40 × 0.05).

What each plan gets you

These are the limits that a forex or gold trader feels, from TradingView's pricing page. Rows marked (FOTT) were filled in from Friend of the Trend where the official text was illegible.

  • Charts per tab: Basic: 1; Essential: 2; Plus: 4; Premium: 8; Ultimate: 16
  • Indicators per chart: Basic: 2; Essential: 5; Plus: 10; Premium: 25; Ultimate: 50
  • Active price alerts: Basic: 3; Essential: 20; Plus: 100; Premium: 400; Ultimate: 1,000
  • Alert expiry: Basic: 1 month; Essential: 2 months; Plus: 2 months; Premium: none (FOTT); Ultimate: none (FOTT)
  • Historical bars: Basic: 5K; Essential: 10K; Plus: 10K; Premium: 20K; Ultimate: 40K
  • Bar Replay minute data: Basic: none; Essential: 180 days; Plus: 365 days; Premium: all; Ultimate: all
  • Ads: Basic: yes (FOTT); Essential: no; Plus: no; Premium: no; Ultimate: no

What does that mean in practice? Basic is a working chart with tight walls. Essential removes the ads and gives you room for five indicators and 20 price alerts. Plus is where four charts per tab and a year of one-minute replay arrive. Premium adds second-based charts and footprint (FOTT), and Ultimate adds tick data. Our breakdown of TradingView free vs paid covers each wall in detail.

Two charges sit outside the plans. Forex and broker CFD feeds are real-time and free on every tier, according to the data coverage page. Exchange data is not: London Stock Exchange real-time costs $9.95 a month, while Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange real-time are "Free after sign-up". Monthly market data subscriptions are non-refundable.

One trap catches some users. Anyone who cannot confirm every non-professional condition, which includes anyone registered with a financial regulator, is treated as professional and needs Ultimate, according to TradingView's help centre. One Trustpilot reviewer wrote, "suddenly I got blocked out as they said I was now a professional user."

Refunds: the windows to know before you pay

TradingView's terms set short windows:

  • Annual plans: refunds "if requested within 14 calendar days after the payment is made".
  • Monthly plans: refunds "only if requested within 7 calendar days after the payment is made".
  • "All billing is recurring", and "An email request or support ticket asking for your subscription to be cancelled is not considered cancellation."
  • Users who have filed a chargeback are not eligible for a refund.

On 5 October 2026 TradingView removed the free-trial offer from its plan cards, according to PricingSaaS, although the compare table still shows "Try free". Our guide to TradingView free trials, refunds and cancelling explains how to avoid a surprise annual charge.

Is TradingView worth it? A decision tree

The common mistake is to upgrade because the chart feels incomplete. The consequence is paying $431.28 a year in the UK for tools you open twice a month. The same cost-per-use test applies to courses, as our forex course cost per lesson breakdown shows. Think of it like a gym membership bought in January: the price is fair if you go, and expensive if you do not.

Work through it in order:

  • If you trade forex or gold, use two or three indicators and check a few levels a day, Basic is probably enough. Its walls are the ads, one saved layout and three alerts. Our list of the best free charting platforms for UK and UAE beginners covers the other free options.
  • If you hit the indicator or alert wall every week, Essential billed annually ($186.48 a year in the UK, $163.17 in the UAE, VAT included) is the cheapest fix.
  • If you watch several timeframes side by side or backtest with Bar Replay on intraday charts, Plus is the honest middle.
  • If you need seconds charts, footprint or 400 alerts, Premium earns its price.
  • If you only need deep history for a project, the Reddit approach (pay monthly for two or three months, then cancel inside the rules) can cost less than a year.
  • If you are a professional under TradingView's definition, Ultimate is required, not optional.

Where TradingView is the better choice

For pure charting, TradingView is better value than almost anything else on the market. One Reddit user put it bluntly: "TradingView is quite cheap when you consider that some software like CQG is $500/month." It claims "400+ built-in indicators and strategies" and "110+ smart drawing tools", and the free forex feeds mean a gold trader pays nothing extra for data. The app is rated 4.8 on the UK App Store and 4.6 on Google Play. If you draw your own analysis, use scripts or screen markets, it is worth paying for once you hit a real limit.

Where Systemly's free plan fits

Many people reach for an upgrade because the chart does not tell them what to do. More indicators will not fix that. A plan might.

Systemly (systemly.ai) is a UK-built forex and gold trade-planning app that turns live price data into a complete trade plan, with entry, stop, targets, position size and plain-English reasoning, and teaches the terms in a built-in academy of 32 courses. Its free plan covers the major forex pairs and gold, and shows the plan's levels on a live chart. Chart layers (sessions, swings and gaps) start at Starter. Paid plans each have a 3-day free trial. Every plan, including free, can place a plan as a paper trade (up to 3 open on free) on real prices with spreads and costs, at a balance you set. That is practice on the market itself, not the points and streaks of Duolingo-style trading apps. It is narrower than TradingView and is not a charting platform replacement.

The two work together. On Starter and above you can export a plan to TradingView as a Pine Script that draws it on your chart with the same stop and money figure. That means you can stay on a cheaper TradingView tier and let the plan carry the markup. The hub comparison, TradingView vs Systemly, sets out where each fits.

How we compared

We read TradingView's pricing, data coverage, tax help and policy pages on 13 October 2026, and cross-checked monthly prices against Friend of the Trend, QuantCrawler and DayTradingToolkit. Price-rise dates come from FXNav and ChartingLens, which disagree, and we say so. VAT uses 20% for the UK and 5% for the UAE; conversions use an assumed, illustrative $1.34 to the pound and the official peg of AED 3.6725 to the US dollar, with every sum shown. Prices change, so check the live page before you pay.

FAQ

How much is TradingView Plus in the UK with VAT?

TradingView Plus costs $29.95 a month billed annually, which is $359.40 a year before tax. With UK VAT at 20%, the annual charge is $431.28, about £322 at an assumed $1.34 to the pound. Billed monthly, Plus is $34.95, or $41.94 with VAT. TradingView lists its prices in dollars, and if you are billed in dollars your card issuer converts the charge at its own rate.

How much is TradingView in the UAE in dirhams?

With the UAE's 5% VAT and the official peg of AED 3.6725 to the US dollar, annual TradingView plans cost about AED 599 for Essential, AED 1,386 for Plus, AED 2,774 for Premium and AED 9,252 for Ultimate. Basic is free. Monthly billing costs more over a year. Card issuers convert at their own rates, so the final figure can differ slightly.

Did TradingView raise its prices in 2026?

Yes. Sources disagree on the exact dates, citing March, April and May 2026, but the arithmetic is clear. Plus annual billing rose from $24.95 to $29.95 a month, an increase of 20.0%, and Plus monthly rose from $29.95 to $34.95, an increase of 16.7%. Premium rose by the same percentages. TradingView's own announcement could not be found.

Is the free TradingView plan enough for forex trading?

For many beginners it is. Basic gives one chart per tab, two indicators per chart, three active price alerts and free real-time forex feeds. It shows ads and saves one chart layout. If you use a simple chart with a couple of tools and a few alerts, Basic works. If you hit those limits every week, Essential is the cheapest upgrade.

Can I get a refund on TradingView?

TradingView's terms allow refunds on annual plans if you ask within 14 calendar days of payment, and on monthly plans within 7 calendar days. Monthly market data subscriptions are non-refundable, and users who have filed a chargeback are not eligible. Emailing support does not cancel a subscription; you need to cancel the renewal itself.

Is TradingView Premium worth it for gold traders?

Only if you use what Premium adds: 25 indicators per chart, 400 price alerts, second-based charts, footprint charts and all Bar Replay data. Most gold traders who trade from a few levels and sessions do not need it. Forex and gold broker feeds are free on every plan, so Premium does not improve your gold data.

Do I need TradingView to use Systemly?

No. Systemly draws its plan on its own live chart, and the free plan covers the major pairs and gold. TradingView is optional. If you already use it, Starter and above can export a plan to TradingView as a Pine Script that draws it on your chart with the same stop and money figure.
